Is $1,800 to repair a freon leak in the copper lineset a fair price?

I had my A/C and furnace replaced 3 years ago. The A/C is a York, YCS48B21SA, R-401A, 4 ton, which is larger than my last unit. It's leaking freon and has been refilled last fall and again last month. The repair person said there isn't anything wrong with the unit itself and they need to test for leaks elsewhere, probably in the copper lineset. According to the serial number, the unit was manufactured in 2012, 10 years before it was installed. I'm wondering if they should have upgraded the lineset when they installed the unit, what other possibilities I should ask about, if the unit's manufacturing date is normal, and if I should pay for a second opinion.
