Is $5,854 to repair or replace evaporator coil and refrigerant system charge a fair price?
Project Details
I had water dripping from my ceiling where my AC intake and evaporator coil is located. The first technician from an ARS-owned company told me the overflow pan was full because the evaporator coil froze and that my compressor would likely need replacement. He gave me this quote and tried to convince me to buy a brand new system, stating parts were covered under a 10-year warranty since they installed it 8 years ago. He pushed for a new system, saying it could be installed tomorrow, whereas replacement parts could take two weeks or more. I got a second opinion, and that technician found the line was just clogged where it empties outside, cleared it, and removed the water from the pan, charging only $380. I'm wondering if this behavior is normal for ARS companies.
