Is $1,400 to repair HVAC drain line, pan, and evaporator coil a fair price?
Project Details
I've been living in my 1960s house for just under 2 years. The previous owner updated the HVAC 3 years ago, and I had no issues with it until 2 weeks ago. Water started dripping from the ceiling, and within 18 hours a large chunk of the ceiling drywall fell down along with lots of wet insulation. I have no idea who installed the HVAC, and they didn't file a permit with the city, so I suspect it was the "handy" homeowner himself. I don't want to be duped into paying for extra services I don't actually need, but I also don't want to skip important repairs just to save a buck in the short term. According to Company #1, the dripping was from the end of the evaporator, and their technician moved the black supports underneath to level it. I'm seeking advice on whether to get a third opinion or go with one of these quotes.
