detect and fix an HVAC leak

Is $5,000 to detect and fix an HVAC leak a fair price?

Project Details

I noticed a pool of water on the ground under my ceiling panel, with some condensation around a white pipe. Earlier in the summer, my AC wasn't blowing cold air. A tech told me there was a leak and quoted around $5k for leak detection and fix. I got a second opinion, and another tech topped off my refrigerant for $700, after which the AC worked well. My HOA said the warranty was only 1 year and is now expired, which seemed very short to me. I've since identified the water is coming from a copper piece above, likely because the armor flex opened up and isn't sealed, causing it to sweat and leak. I think I should get the copper pipe resealed.
