Is $2,300 to replace evaporator coil on an existing Goodman heat pump a fair price?
Project Details
My current Goodman 3.5 Ton, 14 SEER Self-Contained Packaged Heat Pump (GPH1442M41A0) from 2017 is blowing air in the mid 70s and taking a long time to cool the house. A technician found it was low on refrigerant and believed there was an oil leak on the evaporator coil. I had a similar leak a year ago and had to refill the refrigerant. I'm trying to decide if replacing the evaporator coil for $2300 is worth it compared to getting a completely new unit for around $5000, especially since the current unit is already 8 years old. I'm also wondering how long the unit could last after a coil replacement and if replacing the coil will guarantee solving the leak.
