Is $410 to replace a bad capacitor a fair price?

Project Details

I was charged $410 to replace a bad capacitor and the technician advised replacing a bad furnace surge protector for $298, which I declined. I am questioning if the furnace will still work with a bad surge protector, what a reasonable cost for replacement would be, and if the $410 charge for the visit, diagnostic, and capacitor replacement was reasonable. My invoice indicates the capacitor was a Totaline dual.
