My HVAC company performed routine maintenance, during which the technician recommended changing both gas valves due to indicated leaks. He showed me a video where one valve had a few beeps and the other had many more frequent beeps, which he said indicated a gas leak. I haven't smelled gas in the home, but this HVAC unit is in a closed room in the attic. The units are both 7 years old, and I haven't experienced any issues yet. I'm concerned because he made me sign a liability waiver for them, stating they are a fire hazard. I'm also a bit skeptical as this company has given inconsistent advice in the past (e.g., recommending a dehumidifier then saying it's not needed, suggesting a unit replacement last year). I might get a second quote for pricing, but I don't feel comfortable leaving this unfixed after signing the waiver. Our routine maintenance typically includes changing air filters, cleaning blades, and running tests.
