Is $12,000 to install a new heating & cooling system a fair price?
Project Details
My home is about 1300 sqft but is poorly insulated with several windows. In a perfect world, I'd fix the insulation/window problem first. My current 3.5-ton system is 30 years old and is still pushing heat and cold air, but I want to replace it before it inevitably dies in the middle of July. This is my first home, and I am new to renovation/replacement of big ticket items. I was thinking the new system was oversized too, and I wonder if that's why our current unit is still kicking after 30 years.
