Is $1,126 to replace fan motor on outdoor AC unit a fair price?

We have a 14-year-old system, and the tech that came out recommended that we could either upgrade the system or try replacing the motor. That seems really high, especially when I looked online, and it seems the cost should be ranging at most around $700. Am I wrong to think this is a fishy quote?
