Is $8,000 to replace an outside upstairs HVAC unit a fair price?
Project Details
My outside upstairs HVAC unit needs to be replaced. It's about 15 years old, and while a part could be replaced for $3,000-$4,000, I'm considering full replacement when possible. Currently, I don't have the $8,000 needed for replacement. The weather is getting hot, and the room (19x21 ft) stays around 75-80 degrees. I'm looking for advice on whether a window unit or a portable unit would be a better temporary alternative, as I've seen mixed reviews. I've researched that I might need something between 14,000-22,000 BTUs for the room. The existing unit is a smaller, 2-ton unit.
