Is $460 to install homeowner-supplied inducer motor a fair price?
Project Details
My 15-year-old Kenmore/ICP furnace's inducer motor started sounding rough and slow to start last week, and it died completely yesterday, preventing the furnace from firing up. A technician confirmed the motor is dead with a multimeter test. The part is a Fasco A985 / ICP 1172823, which I can get for about $270. I'm considering installing it myself to save money, as I have zero HVAC experience and am wondering how difficult it would be and what to watch out for.
