Is $449 to upgrade from 1" to 5" filter media a fair price?

Project Details

I'm getting a new heat pump installed next week. The evaporator is located in an attic which is accessible but inconvenient. I also like the idea of being able to use a higher MERV filter without taxing the unit. The new heat pump is a Trane 5TAMX. We have returns in every room, so a return grill media filter won't work for us. The current 1" filter is at the transition between the main return trunk and the evaporator, and the new unit would be set up the same.
