Is $750 to install a replacement board for a Gree HVAC system a fair price?
Project Details
I bought my house in April 2024, and a new Gree FLEXX36HP230V1AO outdoor unit and FLEXX36HP230V1BH air handler were installed just before closing. The seller agent confirmed the heater worked, but I was told it was heat-only, which seemed odd for an electric heat pump. Recently, when testing the cooling in high temperatures, the outdoor unit's fan didn't turn on, and my ecobee indicated a problem. An HVAC company diagnosed a potentially defective board. I've also noticed discrepancies in the wiring compared to the manual and plan to try a suggested wiring fix.

Replace a circuit board in my central air outdoor unit
This option involves repairing the existing 5.5-year-old central air outdoor unit. The current unit's warranty expires in September, and the board replacement is not covered due to mouse damage. My current system is going out of production next year, meaning future issues would require a full system replacement (indoor and outdoor units).- New circuit board: Mitsubishi T7WB50323 (costing $1000 for parts)- Labor: Cleaning out the unit and installing the new board- Contingency: HVAC technician notes that there may be more issues than just the board, which can only be determined after the board is replaced and tested.
