Is $8,000 to replace the air handler of my heat pump system a fair price?

Project Details

I just bought this house. The AC seemed to work well initially, but while replacing flooring, I discovered signs of recent water damage on the subfloor in the utility room. The evaporator coil's tray is holding water and shows rusting on the tray and coil. The outdoor heat pump condenser was installed in 2016, but the indoor air handler is the original electric furnace from 1993 with the original blower motor. I received a quote of $6000 to repair the 1993 system, but I'm considering replacing it for a new warranty. I'm having difficulty getting other quotes quickly, and this delay is holding up other projects, preventing me from moving in. I'm unsure if the $8000 price for the replacement is fair, especially since I don't know much about HVAC and the brand isn't specified.
