Is $700 to replace a failed contractor on the outside AC unit a fair price?

Project Details

My 12-year-old heater/AC system has been having many issues recently. The heater had problems with the pressure switch, motor, and board being replaced, and possibly poor wiring. Now the AC unit isn't cooling, and a technician diagnosed a failed contractor on the outside unit. I was quoted $700 for this repair. I only need the system to last one more year before I sell my house, and I have limited budget right now. I previously paid a $99 diagnosis fee to Sila, the company that provided this quote. I'm torn between paying for this repair on an old system or spending $10-15k on a new one, which I can't afford. I've called a new technician for a replacement quote.

Install an outside HVAC unit

This quote is for the installation of an outside HVAC unit. The existing AC unit's compressor is fried and some connections were burnt, making it unsalvageable. The quote specifically covers only the outdoor unit replacement, not the entire system.
