Is $2,420 to repair an AC unit a fair price?
Project Details
Over Mother’s Day weekend, the AC in my rental went out. My renter/family member called a place recommended by his neighbor. I know I paid too much but tried to keep in mind it was an after-hours call on a holiday. The unit is frozen again this morning, a month and a half after the repair. I’m hesitant to call this place back because it seems there's a leak that wasn't tested for. I'm getting more and more angry, especially since it happened again on a damn weekend with a 105-degree real feel. I had no idea these systems typically only took 3 to 5 pounds to fill up, so the 7 pounds is obviously a bad sign. What’s really concerning to me is that we had a new unit put in outside about five years ago, and now all of a sudden I have a big leak. I'm worried the line set might be compromised, or maybe something inside. This is an area that I know nothing about, and I’m just worried I’m going to get taken for a ride by this company now.
