Is $30,000 to install a forced air HVAC system a fair price?
Project Details
I am flipping a 1970s split-level house in NE Ohio. It originally had a boiler system with no A/C. The house has sat for years. I had the 12-year-old boiler inspected, but it wouldn't fire up. A technician estimated around $3,000 to get it running, but noted that the copper pipes and fins are blown out in several places despite the house being 'winterized'. I am debating between repairing the old boiler (which doesn't provide cooling) or installing a new system like mini-splits or forced air. I am concerned that ductless mini-split registers might deter potential buyers. This quote for a forced air system seems pretty steep, and I am currently getting more quotes.
