Is $600 to upgrade HVAC passive drainage system to active system with pump a fair price?
Project Details
I recently had an HVAC drain clog mid-summer. The original old drain was in poor condition and suffered an impenetrable clog, causing the drain pan’s cut-off switch to constantly shut down the system. I was encouraged to upgrade the passive drainage system to an active system using a pump to help prevent future clogs. I am disappointed in the ½-inch clear vinyl tubing that was hung along the old secondary drain’s PVC piping, as it looks like a cheaply done chore rather than a professionally done job. I voiced concern over the flimsy vinyl tubing to the tech, who said it's what the supply house gave him. My concerns are whether the sharp turns risk future occlusions, if the large soffit hole poses a significant opportunity for wildlife to invade the attic, and if this is considered reasonable and customary. I need some guidance before I call to complain and leave a poor Google review.
