Is $3,700 to replace the existing AC coil a fair price?
Project Details
I have a 5-year-old outdoor/indoor AC unit, with a Carrier outdoor unit and a First Co. indoor unit. The indoor unit space is not standard because I live in a duplex. The coil had a small leak last year and was sealed, but the seal is now failing, and the coil needs to be replaced. My HVAC company quoted me for a coil replacement and a new system. I'm stressed and unsure whether to replace the coil for 5-10 more years or get a new unit, especially since I'm not sure if I'll stay in my condo for more than 5 years. I asked for a breakdown of the quote but was denied, so I'm getting other estimates.
