Is $7,800 to replace a broken furnace a fair price?

My 15-year-old Carrier furnace's heat exchanger is broken. The heat at my house stopped working. An HVAC person got it running after cleaning some debris, but it stopped again after a few hours. The diagnosis was a broken heat exchanger, and they recommended replacement. For the first service, they mentioned finding 2 codes (high limit, loss of flame due to restricted inlet, dirty burner housing, dirty flame sensor), and they cleaned the flame sensor, air return pipe, and inlet filter. On the second day, the problem was identified as the heat exchanger, but they didn't mention a crack or show it to me. I am based in Central NJ.
