Is $1,750 to replace a TXV valve and address a refrigerant leak a fair price?
Project Details
My AC system felt sluggish, and the first technician initially couldn't find a leak, only adding refrigerant. He had to return for a second visit to locate the leak, which he identified as the TXV valve. I'm questioning if these units are known for bad coils, if the first tech should have known about the issue, and if charging for two visits is standard. I also got a second opinion where the technician suggested replacing both the TXV and the coil since they are connected and both might be under warranty, as it's the same amount of work. I'm wondering if the $1750 cost is reasonable, especially since $1050 is for the warranty work and the rest for refrigerant, visit, and leak test.
