Is $500 to install UV light for evaporator coil bacteria a fair price?
Project Details
I had my bi-annual HVAC maintenance with Andy Lewis today. This is the second house I've had them maintain our HVAC, and typically nothing serious is recommended. My HVAC system is 3 years old (heat pump and central air) in a new build. I'm looking for opinions on whether these recommendations are legitimate or if there are any better alternatives. I'm also considering looking for a new provider.
Quote Details
Recommendation to address bacteria on the main unit's evaporator coil in the attic. The technician noted it is not yet in the supply area plenum, but would be harder to deal with if it reaches there. This option includes: - Solution: Installation of a UV light. - Maintenance: Bulb replacement recommended every 3-5 years.
