Is $2,617 to replace indoor TXV valve a fair price?
Project Details
My home won't cool, and the technician diagnosed a blockage in the thermal expansion valve (TXV). He mentioned that leak testing would be done during the replacement. The quote is for $2.6k after tax and includes 3 to 4 hours of labor, but I wasn't given a more detailed breakdown. This seems absurd to me, and I'm looking for advice on typical costs, how to find a better HVAC company, and what a new home warranty might cover. I'm the original owner of this new build from 2021. The quoting HVAC company is the one that originally installed the system. I'm located in a rural area outside of Raleigh, NC. I later collected quotes from 4 other companies, all of which were 30% - 60% cheaper, and I'm going with a reputable company that quoted almost half the price ($1300).
