Is $5,000 to replace a control board and three dampers for a 2-zone HVAC system a fair price?
Project Details
My 2-zone HVAC system, originally installed in 2001, is no longer working, so I'm looking to get it fixed or replaced. I was quoted $5,000 for a control board, three dampers, and installation, which was significantly higher than I expected as I don't have a frame of reference. I'm wondering if this is something I can buy parts for and replace myself, as I have a bit of DIY electrical and plumbing experience. I'm also confused why there's a 'third' zone mentioned when I only have two thermostats, unless it operates in tandem with zone 2. I've watched some YouTube videos and it seems doable, but I'm nervous to try.
