Is $7,000 to install a new gas line a fair price?

Project Details

I moved into my childhood home, which previously had a gas line installed around 2008. The previous owners switched to a wood burner and then fuel oil, leading to the gas line being disconnected. My current fuel oil furnace is performing poorly. I initially contacted Peoples Natural Gas, who said my existing line could be reconnected if it held pressure. After plumbers confirmed the line held pressure, I purchased a new furnace for $7,000. However, Peoples Natural Gas now requires an entirely new gas line to be installed, and my plumber estimates this will cost an additional $7,000, which I don't have.
