Is $750 to install a 5' gas line for a range a fair price?
Project Details
I am installing a new gas stove and need a new gas line installed. My house already uses propane for the furnace. An old 3/8” copper gas line that fed a fireplace is no longer in use and runs directly under where the new stove will go. I assume the gas tech will remove this old line and install a 1/2” steel pipe, as I believe 3/8” will be too small. The new pipe will need about 3’ to reach the stove's spot and another 2’ to go through the subfloor into the kitchen. I was hoping the cost would be around $500. I prefer not to DIY gas work inside the house and am seeking a second opinion on this $750 quote to ensure it's a fair price, as I was expecting less. I understand the expertise required for gas work and the associated risks and insurance costs.
