Is $8,000 to remove existing attic insulation and blow in new insulation a fair price?

Project Details

I have a 1950s home with existing pebble fiberglass and R-19 batting. I recently removed some insulation during a bathroom renovation. I'm considering a DIY approach to install vent guards and blow in new insulation to reach R-49, removing the batting. I'm also installing a new attic fan and recently got a new HVAC system. I'm wondering if I should remove all the existing insulation or blow over it. I can test a sample of the existing insulation at a lab.
