Is $29,500 to install Medallion Gold Line kitchen cabinets a fair price?

We are first-time homeowners looking to re-do our kitchen. Everything is original and 30+ years old. We've been slowly updating necessary items first. Our kitchen is around 10x12' and very basic with a peninsula. My dream is to make it look better and maybe expand storage while keeping the layout the same. The previous owners painted the cabinets themselves, and the paint is chipping. We went to a highly-rated remodeling company that uses Medallion cabinets. I gave them detailed drawings and measurements. My nice-to-haves were adding more storage-efficient cabinets and under-cabinet lighting. I was hoping the cabinets would be $15-20k max, and instead, I got a bid of $30k. This is a first-round estimate, and the project manager said the pricing could come down, but I'm worried it won't budge much since I took fairly accurate measurements. The pricing for the backsplash and countertops came in as expected, so it's just the cabinets that are surprising me. I'm wondering if $30k sounds right for a 10x12' standard kitchen and if Medallion cabinets are expensive. Aside from collecting bids elsewhere, I'm looking for tips to lower costs. My husband and I both work full time and have a 1-year-old, so having someone handle contracting would be ideal, but maybe that's a significant portion of the cost. We are considering doing the demo ourselves to save money. We are looking at the Gold Line but considering the Silver Line or a combo. We are looking at 10 upper cabinet boxes (+2 above fridge/microwave), 10 lower cabinet boxes, and 8 drawers. I'm in Salem, Oregon.
