Is $4,500 to convert crawl space into dry, clean storage a fair price?
Project Details
I live in a Zone 2 London flat in Kensal Rise with a full-footprint basement/crawl space underneath, which is around 560 sq ft and about 3 ft high. I want to turn it into a dry, clean storage area instead of a dusty void. I'm looking for advice and second opinions on the builder's quote, specifically regarding pricing fairness for London, the sufficiency of cementitious tanking for damp-proofing, the necessity of ventilation, pitfalls with DPM + boards vs levelling compound + sealant for flooring, suitable shelving materials, common regrets, red flags with builders, longevity of basic tanking, and potential resale value uplift.
