Is $3,200 to repair and replace master bedroom and closet ceiling drywall a fair price?
Project Details
I got this quote for replacing ceiling drywall, painting, and new attic insulation for my 11x10 bedroom and 6x2 closet, which have 8ft ceilings. A couple of panels are falling down, almost collapsing, due to heavy weight from textured panels and poor craftsmanship (nails instead of screws), not water damage. The contractors will fully protect floors and walls and handle disposal. The rest of my house has a flower pattern ceiling texture that they are not matching. I'm in a HCOL area and my house was built in 1984, likely with original ceilings. I'm also getting another estimate tonight; another contractor recommended reinforcing the entire ceiling, replacing one panel, and skim coating the entire ceiling for $2,500. I'm new to this type of home repair and am trying to understand if completely redoing the ceiling is better than just fixing it.
