Is $8,950 to remove popcorn texture and skim coat ceilings a fair price?

Project Details

I recently bought a home (2/1.5 single-family) and all of the walls, including ceilings, are textured. The walls are orange peel and painted gray, but I plan to paint them white. I am questioning the value of professional removal because contractors stated they cannot achieve a level 4 finish.
