Is $880 to re-pipe a utility sink to above ground PVC a fair price?

Project Details

I bought a home where the previous owner had installed a concrete pipe under the basement floor, running to a sump pump (which is also an ejector pump), with plans for a basement bathroom that never materialized. Currently, my washer and utility sink drain into this buried pipe. I've noticed that the washer drains extremely slowly, and it turns out there are partial roots blocking the pipe. The plumber recommended re-piping the utility sink to above-ground PVC and applying RootX to the existing pipe to slow down root intrusion, as only the utility sink and washer use this pipe. I'm wondering if this is a DIY project and if there are diagrams to follow, especially concerning the vent stack connection. I also want to know if RootX will prevent further basement issues with roots, such as affecting the flooring.
