Is $6,000 to install a French drain around support beams a fair price?

My rotting support beams are being replaced and different contractors have offered different solutions to the rain water collecting near the base of the posts. Whenever it rains the area near the stairs and beams 1&2 become a puddle. My question is whether the French drain is necessary or if the cement supports will be enough to prevent damage to the support beams long term.
