Is $4,900 to replace a 75-gallon gas water heater a fair price?

I have a gas water heater that's turning 15 this year, so it's definitely time to start thinking about replacement. It's not showing signs of full-on failure but the burner is getting markedly less efficient (the flame is mostly yellow). Since our utility room is on the third floor, it's best to be proactive about these things; a substantial leak up there would be very bad. I was quoted $4900, which is much higher than I was bracing myself for based on Internet research. I'm unsure how much the complicating factors (75-gallon unit, third-floor location) should drive up a reasonable estimate. $5000 is about double what I was expecting to hear, and I'm wondering if I should keep looking.
