Is $153,000 to build a custom pool a fair price?
Project Details
I have been waiting for my home to be built in Arizona and a pool is a must for my family. I have been getting quotes and renders from a few pool builders and have landed on what I believe is the best rendition from a pool builder who also seems to be the cheapest so far. I was also recommended this builder by the project manager of my home. I am not experienced enough to know if this pricing seems competitive. I was told the project would take 3-4 months. So far, they have been the most professional and had the best suggestions, making the process a breeze. We are not in a rush to get the pool since we aren't moving in right away. I am looking for design suggestions to ensure I don't miss anything I will wish I had added during the build process. My contract specifies a 6' water depth, which I will discuss further. I have confirmed that our requirement of 3' from the wall is met. I need to check into the gas meter situation. I don't have a contractor license or any idea how to properly build a pool, so I prefer to pay someone to manage it for me, as I wouldn't have it done before summer otherwise. This is a very large and national pool contractor, so I don't foresee any issues. They have me on a payment plan where a percentage of the total bill is paid at each stage of the build, starting with 15% at excavation.
Quote Details
This quote is for building a custom pool in my backyard, which has a lot size of approximately 32'x75'. The cost excludes a TV or BBQs, as I will be purchasing those separately. The design has been updated since the initial render to include several enhancements: - Deep end depth: 6 feet - Additional TV: A second TV has been added to the plan. - Travertine: More travertine has been added to fill the planter box on the right side against the home. - Pool equipment shade: A sail has been added over the pool equipment. - Pool lighting: A second pool light has been added. Both lights are RGBW "infinite watercolors" 25W lights.
