Is $3,000 to replace a Hayward Pro Grid 6020 pool filter a fair price?
Project Details
I moved into this house with a pool last year. The previous owners transferred their valet services contract to me, but this year I went with a different company for opening/closing services. The current technician has found issues with the system, including a leaking multiport valve and diatomaceous earth (DE) getting into the pool water. I'm questioning the need to replace the entire Hayward Pro Grid 6020 filter, as I believe only parts like the grid assembly and multiport valve might be needed. This year has been very expensive due to moving, so this repair/replacement is not in my budget unless absolutely necessary. I have another company coming to provide a quote on Monday. I have experience with water chemistry from maintaining a large saltwater reef tank and want to understand the issues better, but I'm frustrated by technicians who dismiss my questions. My goal is to handle most pool maintenance myself, except for opening/closing due to the pool cover. I also bought a WaterGuru for continuous monitoring.
