Is $500 to install a foam product to prevent pool rust a fair price?

I am having my pool liner replaced. The installer offered to install a layer of foam product to prevent further rust. I'm tempted to do it but wanted input. The pool was built in 2016. They noted the rust wasn't bad, so I wasn't too concerned, but I also didn't want to waste money if there were other options.
