Is $600 to repair a pool pump's broken housing a fair price?
Project Details
My pool maintenance guy found my pump shooting water from the top and diagnosed it as broken housing. I was conflicted on whether to repair or replace it, as I'm looking for a long-term solution rather than a patchwork repair. My current pump is a Hayward Tristar 2.4 hp, at least 5 years old, with the motor replaced around 2017-2018, and the pump itself is 10+ years old. I also have an Aqualink 3.0 automation system, which was limited in functionality with the Hayward pump. I'm new to DIY pool work as I've only had the pool for about a year. I ultimately decided to replace the pump with a Jandy FloPro 2.7hp VSP because it integrates perfectly with my Aqualink automation system.
