Is $1,500 to replace a Jandy AquaPure salt system cell a fair price?

Project Details

I have a Jandy AquaPure salt system that I'm super frustrated with. It seems like every year something goes wrong with it. I replaced the cell about 4 years ago, and 2 years ago I had to replace the motherboard. I think the system is about 6 years old. This year, I opened it and things seemed to be going okay for a few days, and then I got the error code 120 and it stopped producing chlorine. There is good flow, no air leaks, I cleaned the cell twice, and the salt level is at 3200 ppm (supposed to be between 3000-3500). My pool guy came out and says he cleaned it, and the 120 code cleared, but now it's showing a 125 194 code, and he says that means it's time to replace the cell. Weirdly, when I went out again tonight, it's back to code 120. At any rate, he essentially told me to just forget it and just use chlorine pucks because salt ruins everything. I hear so many people trying to get away from chlorine pucks to salt systems because of all the work and time. I'm super frustrated and not sure what to do. I'd probably pay the $1500 if I knew it would fix the issue and if I got 5 years out of it, but dropping 1-2k every couple years seems asinine. I saw an entire system on Amazon from Aqua Coastal that seems to have decent reviews and it costs roughly the same as just the Jandy cell. I'm wondering if I should just buy a whole new system. I would appreciate any advice from the community.

Quote Details

The quote is for replacing the existing Jandy AquaPure salt system cell. The pool guy indicated this would fix error codes 125 and 194, though the system later reverted to code 120. The homeowner is unsure if this will be a lasting fix.
