Is $1,500 to replace a pool salt cell a fair price?
Project Details
I recently bought a house in Middle TN with a large pool, estimated at ~40,000 gallons, which has an AutoPilot Digital system and AutoPilot Salt Cell. I'm currently having a pool company do maintenance for September as I'm new to pool ownership and plan to take over maintenance myself. The company quoted me $1500 to replace the salt cell, which I've confirmed needs replacing. I'm considering buying a PPC3 cell for around $600 from Salt Pool Guys to replace it myself. My main question is whether it's worth replacing the salt cell now, given that swimming season is almost over and the pool will be kept open all winter, but chlorine generation stops below 60F. I'm wondering if I should wait until spring to replace it.
