Is $16,000 to remodel a pool with pebbletech and new tile a fair price?

Project Details

I paid a contractor $8,000 upfront for a $16,000 pool remodel. Most of the work is done, with the exception of my water features, which they claimed were on "order." It's been 8 months with zero contact from the contractor. I did not sign a contract, but they provided one. Another pool company confirmed the work looks great and that the completed work (going from normal plaster to midnight blue pebble tech) is worth more than the $8,000 I've already paid. I still owe them the other half.

Quote Details

The pool remodel included the following: - Conversion from normal plaster to midnight blue pebbletech - Installation of new tile on the water line - Installation of glass tile on the edge - Installation of water feature fittings into the Pentair filter - Digging up and connecting all necessary piping

Build a pool

This quote is for a pool build project. The work includes: - Pool construction - Tile work: Glass tile around the spa - Stone work: Adjacent to the glass tile - Stone wall: A 70-foot stone wall. Significant issues have been encountered with the quality of work, including: - Tile work: Excessive haze and leftover grout on the glass tile around the spa. - Stone work: Stone adjacent to the glass tile is constantly wet, suggesting improper sealing or water getting behind the stone. - Stone wall: Dried mortar smeared all over the face of the 70-foot stone wall.
