replace pool plumbing with bigger PVC

Is $8,000 to replace pool plumbing with bigger PVC a fair price?

Project Details

I spent all morning tracking down a compression fitting. I had a long talk with our local pool shop (not Leslie’s), and they told me what I am doing is most likely a big waste of time and money. Based on my copper plumbing, they said it’s 50/50 that a pump and replumb will solve my problems, and it’s most likely my copper plumbing is going bad.

Replace old copper main drain line with 2" PVC

This quote covers the replacement of an old copper main drain line with 2" PVC. The contractor refused to route it directly to the pump with a control valve, stating the pool was too small for such a setup. The line was later identified as an equalizer line. This work was performed as part of a full pool remodel.
