Is $2,100 to replace felt roof on vestibule and new cast iron guttering a fair price?
Project Details
I had work done on my vestibule by a local company. The original felt roof lacked a sloped shape, which encouraged pooling, and the felt was laid incorrectly. The original quote was £2,880, which included fully replacing 4m of lead flashing on the conservatory. However, we opted to tidy up and coat the existing lead in a polymer liquid instead, as the conservatory was not safe to put weight on. The revised quote for this work was £2,100 inc VAT. I am not happy that work was carried out without notifying me, as I was traveling for work and only learned of it when I received the bill. I am also displeased with the work itself. The quote mentioned reshaping the roof with a new deck to avoid pooling, but after a heavy shower, there is still pooling in the corners. I also have no information on the condition of the roof base, which I would have checked if I had been notified of the work. Additionally, the new guttering is not in contact with the old brackets, and there is a fair amount of pooling (around 3/4"-7/8") after a shower, which concerns me about proper drainage.
