Is $1,500 to apply a fibrated silver coat to an aging roof a fair price?

Project Details

I am a new homeowner and unsure about roof repairs. A contractor quoted me $1500 to extend the life of my aging roof by 2-3 years using a silver coating with fiberglass. Another company only recommended a full replacement or torch-down method, but the first contractor said torch-down isn't an option due to existing layers. I'm questioning if the $1500 repair is effective, as my family and other contractors I've consulted believe the coating won't do much because of existing cracking and recommend a new roof instead. I'm looking for advice on whether the price is fair or if I should seek a lower option.
