Is $8,000 to install a metal roof over existing asphalt shingles a fair price?
Project Details
My roof is 15 years old and leaking. There are 3-4 spots where the shingles/wood is punctured through to the attic by huge nails. There is obvious water damage and mold on a few of the wood panels in the attic. My husband is adamant that we can’t spend an extra $3-4k on top of that $8k to actually replace the roof. I'm concerned that simply putting a moisture barrier and a metal roof on top will trap the existing water damage and make the problem significantly worse later.
