Is $8,000 to install a metal roof over existing shingles a fair price?
Project Details
My roof is 15 years old and is currently leaking. There are 3-4 spots where the shingles and wood are punctured through to the attic by large nails, leading to visible water damage and mold on some wood panels in the attic. I am concerned that simply putting a moisture barrier and a new metal roof over the existing damaged roof, as proposed, would trap the existing water damage and worsen the problem. My husband is against spending an additional $3,000-$4,000 to fully replace the roof.
