Is $2,000 to remove shingles and install a standing seam metal roof (labor only) a fair price?
Project Details
My roofing contractor is charging me $2000 in labor to remove shingles from a roof and install a metal roof. It is approximately 15 squares (just shy of 1500 sq ft). Materials are not included, only labor. It does include trash haul off. He’s done quite a few residential homes for me, so if it’s as good as his shingle work, then I’d imagine it’s pretty high quality. I’ve sent him quite a few roofs from out builds, so I’m assuming that’s why my price is cheaper, but I’m unfamiliar with metal, hence the post. He's been phenomenal. He’ll be running 2 by 4s and sponges below the metal. The $2000 is labor only, not materials; I order materials myself. I have never installed a metal roof, only shingles, therefore I asked if anyone else had insights on it. Approximately total cost would count out to just shy of $6000. I work as a builder but I specialize in shingle homes, so that could be why I’m getting a cheaper price on labor. It will be a standing seam roof.
