Is $7,567 to install a 14.06 kW solar system a fair price?
Project Details
I am comparing two solar quotes for my home in Illinois. My annual electricity usage is about 14,667 kWh, and the proposed system is projected to produce around 17,000 kWh per year, meaning I already overproduce. I estimate the batteries might save me around $400 –500 per year by storing excess production during the day and using it at night, but we rarely lose power, so backup value isn't a huge factor. I get supply-only credit as net metering changed in Illinois this year. I'm leaning toward the solar-only setup and possibly adding batteries later.
