Is $43,404 to install a solar + battery system a fair price?
Project Details
I'm evaluating a solar + battery system proposal and am looking for feedback on the system design and pricing. My current average electric bill is ~$547/month. My household includes one EV commuting ~600 miles/week, which charges daily at home. I also use AC regularly during summer months (June–September). PG&E off-peak costs are $0.436 kWh, and peak costs are $0.571. I'm a bit sticker shocked by the price, as my neighbors installed a 6 kWh system (panels only) years ago for $16k. I was going to take my time deciding but don’t want to miss out on the federal tax credit. The estimated switch-on date would be in October. My roof is west facing with no shade or trees obstructing.
