Is $10,000 to install a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery system a fair price?
Project Details
I am evaluating whether it is worth it to buy a battery, specifically one Tesla Powerwall 3, under NEM3.0. I have solar panels that have been in place for one year, and I was recently transitioned to NEM3.0. My solar system produces between 276 kWh and 700 kWh per month, and I import an average of 237 kWh per month. I project my average electric bill to be less than $80 per month without a battery, based on my past year's data from PGE and current NEM3.0 rates. I am a net producer of electricity and am trying to understand the financial benefits of a battery, particularly regarding maximizing credits by exporting during peak hours. I am served by PGE for delivery and Peninsula Clean Energy for production. My electricity rates are: Summer season (June - Sept): - Midnight to 3pm: 39 cents - 4pm to 9pm: 60 cents - 3-4pm and 9pm-midnight: 44 cents Winter season (Oct - May): - Midnight to 3pm: 34 cents - 4pm to 9pm: 37 cents - 3-4pm and 9pm-midnight: 35 cents I am trying to determine how much I can save by storing my own excess production and how much I can make by selling excess back to the grid during peak times.
